This Santa is handmade by American artist Karen Didion. The beautiful vintage face is hand painted porcelain with authentic wool for the bearding that is attached to the face, pulled apart into fluffy sections, then shaped into the classic look that Karen is known for. The bodies are all hand-made with a wire armature that is able to be posed to sit naturally on the ornate embellishment that is part of each design. The hand-made clothing for this Karen Didion Santa is sewn using classic, vintage-look fabrics as well as true vintage fabrics including beautiful, recycled mink fur trim. This collectible includes a rare antique buggy with leather canopy embellished with a vintage German smoke pipe, two 1920s Turtle Mark dolls, and two beautifully lit Christmas trees. The detailed process of Karen actually making the Santa could take days to weeks to complete depending on the amount of detail contained in an outfit. But in reality, it could take years to complete an entire one-of-a-kind collectible from the point the ornate anchor piece is found and purchased, to collecting all the additional vintage and unique embellishments that are part of each one-of-a-kind design. Each unique, one-of-a-kind is sold with a certificate of authenticity, signed by Karen, herself as well as an artist hang tag. Additionally, all one-of-a-kind collectibles are signed and numbered by Karen as a 1 of 1. Karen has been creating her unique and beautiful one-of-kind collectibles since 1994.
Lights are battery operated. Two CR2032 batteries are included.
